WINTER WEATHER EVENT #9
Very Late TUES, 2/20 thru WED, 2/21

This very likely winter weather event in the DMV region will be a solid combo of straight snowfall AND a wintry mix  of snow-sleet-freezing rain for much of the area Wednesday, with rain ultimately taking over for most spots by the evening hours except the coldest suburbs N/W of D.C and Baltimore.  With that in mind, we think there will be enough cold air available for 4-8+ hours of snowfall in the morning, which could quickly produce 3-6" of accumulation before it even starts to mix with sleet and freezing rain (with some places possibly seeing 5-10" of total snow).  And once the mixing starts, that could process itself could last another 4-8+ hours, especially for those in the northern 2/3 of the region (less snow/mix and more rain for Southern MD and the lower MD Eastern Shore)...so moderate icing is entire possible in places like Westminster MD, Frederick MD, Sterling VA and more N/W of D.C. and Baltimore.

As a result, expect widespread delays/cancellations to school systems in the DMV region Wednesday as well as to private businesses in the region AND the Federal Government.
