Expected Event: 1/29 into 1/30

 

A low pressure center is expected to form over/just north of the DMV region on Tuesday evening as an Arctic cold front approaches from the west.  Rain is likely to break-out first in the afternoon hours, but as cold air quickly moves in with the frontal boundary...rain is expected to turn to snow and the region could see a general blanket of 1-3" of snowfall with higher totals in the northern-third of MD.

TIMING

Rain will likely begin in the 10 am-2 pm time frame from west-to-east, with snow most likely breaking out in the 12-5pm time frame for most areas...lasting until approximately 10 pm-2 am.
