Winter Event #4 will provide a very limited impact to the DMV region as overall accumulation totals will be a trace ("T") to around 2" in the northern-third of MD, in spots, as a fairly weak and fast-moving low pressure center moves over/near the MD-PA border.  If the timing is just right (12am-6am) and temps stay at/below freezing just long enough, there could be some minor impacts to roadways and, therefore, school schedules Friday morning.

Some light snow is expected to break out in the late PM hours of Thursday (1/16) and should last into the early/mid-morning hours of Friday (1/18).

We think this storm will produce 0-2" across the DMV region:

  • Annapolis = 0.3"
  • Baltimore (BWI) = 1.1"
  • Dulles, VA = 1.0"
  • Washington, D.C. = 0.3"
  • Frederick, MD = 1.7"
  • Waldorf, MD = "T"
  • Bel Air, MD = 1.1"
  • Bowie, MD = 0.2"
  • Gaithersburg, MD = 0.9"
  • Fredericksburg, VA = 0.0"
  • North East, MD = 0.7"
  • Easton, MD = "T"
  • Cambridge, MD = 0.0"

Bottom line: this is a minor winter weather event that should have very little impact for most of the DMV region.

As always, stay tuned for updates just in case anything changes...and, of course, have fun and be safe.
