DMV Weather Partners with Shatterproof

DMV Weather has teamed up with Shatterproof, a national advocacy organization leading the fight against addiction, to become an ambassador partner to help further the Shatterproof mission and to also specifically help with participation and fund-raising efforts related to a 5k Walk/Run on October 20, 2018, in Reston, VA.

Everyone knows someone who suffers from addiction - help DMV Weather help Shatterproof do what it takes to help those in need of assistance with the disease of addiction by participating, volunteering, donating, etc.

DMV Weather Partners with the National Weather Service

DMV Weather has teamed up with the National Weather Service to become an approved Ambassador of the NWS' Weather Ready Nation initiative.

The Weather-Ready Nation Ambassador initiative is an effort to formally recognize NOAA partners who are improving the nation’s readiness against extreme weather, water, and climate events. As a Weather-Ready Nation Ambassador, your organization is committing to work with NOAA and other Ambassadors to strengthen national resilience against extreme weather.

DMV Weather was featured in a podcast with The Maryland Crabs podcast channel, discussing everything from forecasting the weather in the Annapolis area, to memorable weather dates in history to the 2012 Super Derecho that moved across the DMV region and ultimately led to the formation of DMV Weather.

DMV Weather Partners With UNC Asheville for a New Weather Forecasting Internship Program

March 2018

DMV Weather has officially partnered with UNC Asheville's Atmospheric Sciences department for an internship program.  This partnership is designed to give aspiring meteorologists at UNC Asheville real-world weather forecasting experience in an effort to broaden their understanding of the larger weather-related mechanics of the earth's atmosphere while deepening their skill-set in the profession of localized weather forecasting.

The first internship group consists of three Juniors currently in the UNCA Atmpospheric Sciences program and it will run thru early May 2018.  The next internship group will kick-off sometime in September or October 2018.
